Dear All

A big big thank you to the voters in the Maiwar state electorate for your vote, your support, your show of confidence in me and for some, the opportunity to speak with you personally.

While campaigning in the suburbs of this electorate, I have been listening to issues that are important for you and for your community. I have enjoyed every moment of the campaigning which started for me over a year ago in the inner West parts of Brisbane. I will always treasure the beautiful memories of campaigning in this electorate. As mentioned previously, I am committed to stand with the community that I serve and be there for their wishes and dreams.

I had hoped to have the honour and privilege of serving as your elected representative in Maiwar. My work for the people of this Maiwar will not stop after election and it will continue.

I respect the democratic process and hence the outcome of the results from Saturday 31 October 2020.

I also have enormous respect for the truth that will prevail over people that have been spouting false statements and unrealistic promises. Where there is night, daylight is not far away.

The greater news, of course is that the Palaszczuk Labor government has been re-elected in Queensland for a third term with an increased majority. I want to sincerely thank our Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk MP and the Queensland Labor party for giving me the opportunity to run as their candidate for Maiwar in this 2020 state election.

I wish to extend my sincere congratulations to the other fellow candidates, especially those elected or re-elected to represent this great party in Parliament. It was my first time, and I had the best time.

I am humbled and thankful to all of the Maiwar Labor campaign volunteers and to the members and supporters of the Mt Coot-tha, Indooroopilly, Toowong - St Lucia branches who have contributed in so many ways that involved hard work and sacrifice of their time and energy for the Maiwar campaign. We have built a strong and dedicated team of volunteers and supporters here in Maiwar and I will always cherish their support and their friendship.

We ran a very decent campaign here and ethically raised funds from members, from friends and supporters. I am extremely grateful to them for their support and for the funds we successfully raised for this campaign.

From this experience we have all gained, we realise that we could have done much better. I always believe in learning from every experience and every opportunity. We can and we will review and do better next time. Every volunteer's time and support helped us a lot. Let us not lose any hope as we have many thousands that had voted for me and showed trust in me as their Labor candidate for Maiwar. We must continue the work to ensure they continue to be properly represented in parliament.

For now, let us celebrate our best majority win for the Labor government in Queensland.

This is just the beginning. There is more work to be done from now for a better future.

I will 'RETURN' to serve this community that have put their faith in me.

I am looking forward to catching up with you all in the near future.

Thank you

Palani
